The longtime visitors to this website will recognize that we are now in the 3rd version of the homepage and have continued to add features, content and practical resources for parents and anyone working with children and families.

The focus of Growing Better Families is now more precisely defined as having our primary emphasis on PARENTAL LEADERSHIP. In keeping with this, I've developed a new program,"Becoming a Stronger Parent-Leader". Take a look at this program and let me know what you think. Your suggestions and comments are always welcome. Better and better really IS better!

Last summer I attended The Shetland National Congress and was again reminded that persons with special needs usually have a gift, talent or ability that may not be easily recognized. We need to carefully and diligently search for that area of function and/or area of interest that has been spared and seek to develop it as fully as possible. Again, this reflects one of the main themes of Growing Better Families: "Strengthen a Strength".

The 10 Jobs For Parents (and the 2 Non-Jobs) in The Family Resource Library has now been expanded with additional helpful content.

New Year's Day Prayer. Lord, so far this year I've done well. I haven't gossiped, I haven't lost my temper, I haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or overindulgent. I'm very thankful for that. But in a few minutes, Lord, I'm going to get out of bed, and from then on I'm probably going to need a lot more help. Amen.
